Harney County Oregon, Range Seeding Projects

The New Field seeding covers about 550 acres or 220 hectares of gently sloping sagebrush-covered land with a few small hills. Elevation ranges from slightly more than 4200 feet to just over 4300 feet. Although there are a number of very small playas within and adjacent to the survey area, and a very large playa about two kilometers southwest of the area, the nearest reliable water source is over five kilometers to the south at Riddle Creek. Survey details are sketchy on this project, but apparently this area was surveyed sometime prior to July 22, 1980 by Goheen and Loring. No cultural resources were observed.
