The East Square Butte seeding covers 1,025 acres or 410 hectares of gently
sloping land with a number of low ridges and small hills. Vegetation is
primarily sagebrush, and the nearest reliable water source is the Donner und
Blitzen River some eight kilometers to the west, or Malheur Lake, an equal
distance to the north. Elevation ranges from 4200 to 4350 feet. The area
was surveyed by Loring, Kilmarx, Parker and Toussaint on August 28, 1980.
The only cultural material noted was a single isolated obsidian uniface.
