The Texaco Basin seeding project is located adjacent to the Riverside seeding on the north side, and the description of terrain, vegetation and available water is identical for the two areas. Texaco Basin seeding encompasses about 2,080 acres, or 832 hectares, of land. Texaco Basin was surveyed by Thomas, Goheen and Loring on August 13, 19 and 20, 1980 and perhaps other dates. Seven lithic scatters, all less than one hectare in extent, were identified, as well as one isolated biface. The seven sites ranged from .02 to .6 hectares in extent, with a mean of
.172. Only ten tools were noted: four projectile points, four bifaces, one
uniface and one piece of groundstone. Five of these sites were rated S-3 and
two S-2 in significance.
