In the second century A.D. Ptolemy
identified this area as the home of the
Vennicnii and the Rhobogdii. Later it
was part of Tirconnell, and home of the
O'Donnell clan. Minor clans and septs
in the region included McSweeney,

McNelis, McGillespie, McFadden,
McWard, O'Begley, O'Friel,
