Irish Memorials of DeadIrish Memorials of Dead consist of a series of volumes of tombstone inscriptions and other genealogical source records collected in the 19th century in Ireland by this preservation society. Some of the inscriptions have since fallen prey to the effects of weathering, vandalism or progress, and are no longer found outside the pages of this valuable work. Although primarily devoted to tombstone inscriptions, a wide variety of other sources of information have also been preserved within these pages, including such material as succession lists, baptismal, marriage & death records, obituaries, etc. The material covers all parts of Ireland, and spans from the twelfth to the 19th century, with the bulk of material relevant to the period between 1600 and 1850. We have an index that covers the first seven volumes of this publication, but only have copies of the first three actual volumes, plus a single issue from volume 13. Note that these volumes should not be confused with the several books, also called 'Memorials of the Dead' published in the 1980s by Cantwell. We have not been able to obtain copies of those volumes, though a few excerpts were published in EIREphile. Selecting these links take you to further indexes.
