Bergamot

The boiled leaves from Bergamot were applied to pimples by the Blackfoot Indians, to speed their cure. Other tribes are said to use oil, extracted from the dried leaves of this plant by boiling, to treat colds and bronchitis. Tewa Indians are supposed to have eaten the boiled leaves with meat. These leaves contain thymol, which has antiseptic properties, and may help remove digestive gas.
