GENEALOGY OF THE NAME AND FAMILY OF HUNT -- Early Established in
America From Europe, Exhibiting Pedigrees of Ten Thousand Persons,
Enlarged by Religious and Historic Readings, Enriched with Indices
of Names and Places. Authorized by W. L. G. Hunt, compiled by T. B.
Wyman Jr. Published at Boston 1862--3. xvi + 414 pages.
This is a very useful and interesting work. The author has not
restricted his research to just one family of the name Hunt, but
records data and relationships on thousands of people of that name.
Some pedigrees run for many generations, while other references are
shorter. Many transcriptions of vital records, court documents and
correspondence have been included. There are three indexes. In the
front of the book is an index of first names for each Hunt
mentioned in the text. At the back are a surname index for names
other than Hunt, and a placename index. Although 28 pages are
devoted to these three indexes, a cross check of names in the text
shows that many names were missed, so the careful researcher will
want to examine the entire text.
