BALLARD GENEALOGY: WILLIAM BALLARD (1603--1639) OF LYNN, MASS. AND
WILLIAM BALLARD (1617--1689) OF ANDOVER, MASS., AND THEIR
DESCENDANTS. By Charles Frederic Farlow. 203 pages, indexed,
published at Boston 1911.
This unusual and extremely interesting work traces the descendants
of two lines whose progenitors had the same name, lived
contemporaneously, and resided only about 15 miles from one
another, in what is even today but one county (Essex). In sorting
out the records applicable to each, and assigning the many
descendants to their respective lines, Mr. Farlow has provided a
great service to Ballard descendants. There are three separate
indexes in this work, one giving the first names of Ballards, the
second the surnames for allied lines, and the third a locality
index, making this a very convenient reference work. Some of the
allied families include: Abbot, Allen, Andrews, Blanchard, Brown,
Carter, Chandler, Clark, Dane, Farlow, Fisk, Foster, Frye, Holt,
How, Howland, Hunt, Johnson, Jones, Lovejoy, Moor, Osgood, Phelps,
Pratt, Roberts, Russell, Simonds, Smith, Spalden, Spalding,
Stickney, Thompson, Walker, and White.
