Originally published in 1913.
This work traces the known descendants of Daniel Clark (1622--1710)
who was born in Chester, England. He came to America in 1639 and
settled in Windsor, Connecticut, where he died in 1710. Daniel
Clark married Mary Newberry (1626--1688) in 1644 and they had
eleven children. In 1689 he married Martha (Pitkin) Wolcott, widow
of Simon Wolcott. Descendants are traced through both male and
female lines for ten generations, in so far as the author was able
to ascertain them. Some descendants spelled the name Clarke, and in
those lines this spelling has been retained. There is a complete
index, listing each person in the lineage. The main allied families
include: Abell, Adams, Ashley, Baker, Bliss, Brewster, Bushnell,
Calkins, Chadwick, Cooley, Doolittle, Eggleston, Forstall, Gilbert,
Huntington, Johnson, Kellogg, Lewis, Loomis, Marshall, Mather,
Miller, Morris, Neill, Norris, O'Mara, Parshall, Pelton, Pinney,
Roberts, Smith, Spaulding, Taylor, Thomas, Thompson, Thrall,
VanDuzer, Vernon, Walton, Warner, Washburn, Weld, Williams, Wilson,
Winchell, Woodbury and Wylie, as well as about 500 other surnames.
Some 1743 individuals are listed as direct descendants of Daniel
Clark, plus thousands of spouses and in--laws.
