This publication relates the story of John McMahan and his family, who immigrated to America from Ireland ca. 1736, and settled in Cumberland County PA. It tells of the families adventures on the frontier, and participation in the Revolution. Some of the other families mentioned include Alexander, Bair, Giffen, Murray and Reed. This is primarily biographical, historical, and anecdotal information about the family, although a great many genealogical details are included incidentally.
