James Mott was born in 1723 at Long Island NY, and married Anna Rogers. He moved his family to Dutchess County NY ca. 1762, and died there in 1770. James and Anna had ten children, each of whose descendants are traced for a number of generations in this work. The main allied families are Barker, Butler, Cox, Davis, Dewolf, Emigh, Haight, Hermance, Johnson, Losee, Rawlings, Smith, Thompson, Tice and Tosh, but many others are mentioned.
