REGIMENTAL RECORDS OF THE 3rd BATTALION ROYAL MUNSTER FUSILLERS,
FORMERLY SOUTH CORK LIGHT INFANTRY MILITIA. Compiled by G. S.
Ormerod. 133 pages. Originally published 1906 at Cork, Ireland.
This informative work covers the entire history of this unit from
its formation in 1793 to the years just prior to publication.
Sketches of the various military engagements over the years are
given, along with copies of correspondence and records relevant to
the units history. The names of many members are mentioned,
especially officers. A great deal of social, political and economic
history is brought out in the narrative; then, as today, economy
was a major factor, as in this observation:
1 Nov. 1836--Captain Bagley resigned the adjutancy, which he
had held for over 28 years. With a view to further economy, the
appointment was not filled up.
An appendix lists all of the officers commissioned between 1793 and
1905, listing their name, rank and date of commission.
