FUND FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE MEMORIALS OF THE DEAD, IRELAND, VOL. I. 1888 -- 1891. 522 pages + 38 page index. Originally published at Dublin, Ireland.

This is the first volume of tombstone inscriptions and other genealogical source records collected in the last century in Ireland by this preservation society. Some of the inscriptions have since fallen prey to the effects of weathering, vandalism or progress, and are no longer found outside the pages of this valuable work. Although primarily devoted to tombstone inscriptions, a wide variety of other sources of information have also been preserved within these pages, including such material as succession lists, baptismal, marriage & death records, obituaries, etc. The material covers all parts of Ireland, and spans from the twelfth to the 19th century, with the bulk of material relevant to the period between 1600 and 1850. An essential reference work for the Irish genealogist, this publication has long been difficult, if not impossible, to find outside of major Irish libraries.

This title is also available on CD as part of CD1.
