NOTES OF THE HISTORY OF THE DE BURGH FAMILY. By Elizabeth Jane
Hussey De Burgh. 91 pages, originally published at Dublin, 1890.
Reproduced as an eBook 2002. (The PDF format eBook has large, 8.5 x 11
pages, so the eBook version is 43 pages, but has all the same content as
the original).
This interesting Irish genealogy, written before the destruction of
many records in the Public Records Office fire, traces the De Burgh
family back to William Fitzadelm De Burgh, who was appointed Chief
Governor of Ireland in 1175. From him are said to descend all of
the Irish De Burgh, De Burgo, Bourke and Burke families. The
genealogy is enlivened by anecdotal tales and historical sketches
that make this interesting reading even for those who are not
directly related to the De Burghs.
