HISTORIC--GENEALOGY OF THE KIRK FAMILY. By Chas. H. Stubbs. 252
pages, indexed. Originally published at Lancaster, Pennsylvania
1872. Reproduced on three microfiche 1988.
This useful genealogy traces the descendants of Roger Kirk who
settled in Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania about 1714. It
also includes a short section on descendants of Alphonsus Kirk, who
emigrated from Lurgan, Northern Ireland, and settled in the county
of New Castle, Delaware in 1689. Each descendant is numbered in
this publication, so we can see that it includes
209 descendants of Alphonsus Kirk in seven generations. The bulk of
the book is devoted to descendants of Roger Kirk, for whom 2494
descendants are listed, in eight generations, along with their
spouses and in--laws. Since both male and female lines of descent
are traced, there are many hundreds of other surnames mentioned,
just a few of them being: Campbell, Price, Taylor, Miller, Brown,
Elliott, White, Winder, Woodward, Stubbs, Haines, Entriken, Pierce,
Sharpless, Broomfield, Emory, England, Lappin, Russell, Bailey,
Cope, Knight, Swayne, Kendall, Cook, Shreves, Painter, Maxwell,
Chandler, Slicer, Walker, Brinton, Townsend, Moore, Mitchell,
Green, Williams, Gamble and Donohoo.
