MICROFICHE
Microfiche are small film sheets (4 x 6 inches or a bit less) with greatly reduced images
of pages on them. Similar to microfilm, but in flat sheets instead of rolls, you need a special
viewing device to read these, called a microfiche viewer. Most public libraries have microfiche viewers
you can use. Many have microfiche viewer/printer machines, that can be used to read the microfiche, or
to print out pages. Our microfiche are 24x reduction, so there are about 100 pages on a typical 'fiche'
or 'microfiche' sheet. If a book does not fit on a single microfiche sheet, you will receive several
sheets in a single paper sleeve. Don't worry, these sheets are not easily scratched or damaged, handle
them like you would file cards. If they get dirty, something is spilled on them for example, use a damp
cloth to wipe them clean.
