Description:

This is a tintype cased in a manner similar to daguerreotypes and ambrotypes. The image is 82mm x 108mm, with rouge coloring added to the cheeks. The jewelry has a turquoise tint, probably originally gilt. The tintype has been covered with a metal matte with an oval opening, then covered with a sheet of glass, and the parts held together with another thin piece of metal matte wrapped around the edges. The whole thing was then placed in a wood framed case covered with embossed paper and lined with red felt. The outside of the case looks like THIS.
