Description:

This is a tintype in a cart de visite. The card has an oval hole cut in it (33mm x 45mm), and the tintype is held onto the back of the card by a paper covering that has been glued over it. The card is white, .4mm thick, with a pair of simple lines embossed around the oval opening, the inner one a series of bead-like dots, the outer one solid. Faintly embossed along one side is the imprint "Potters Patent March 7, 1865"
