Description:

This is a tintype mounted on a carte de visite. The card, .4mm thick, has a small hole, rectangular (14mm x 22mm) with rounded corners on the top, through which the tintype shows. The tintype is held onto the back of the card by having a piece of paper glued over it. The opening is surrounded by an embossed frame with stars in it. On the bottom is printed "Potter's Patent, March 7, 1865". Inscribed in ink, on the front "Yours Truly, J. W. Cushman".
