Description:

This carte de visite has a medium sized vignette of a gentleman, on a plain white background. The image area is 28mm wide and 42mm high. The card is white, .5mm thick. It probably had square corners originally, but they have been clipped off diagonally. The back (illustrated) has a pencil inscription "Isaac Harper" and the photographer's imprint in a decorated frame, as well as a 3 cent revenue stamp (close-up view) that has been hand cancelled with "N & J, June 11, 1866". The photographer's imprint consists of three typeset lines, "Norton & Johnson, Photographers, Kewanee, Ill." framed by a simple rectangular cartouche decorated with a floral motif.
