Postmark Dated Curt-Teich Cards

The following list gives the Curt-Teich Reference Number, Title, Year of First Publication (based on info from the Curt-Teich Museum website) and Year of Postmark or Written Date. When the title is in brackets [] the title is from an eBay description, and may not be the exact title shown on the card.

Later Curt-Teich cards have the reference number inside the stamp box, so it is relatively difficult to find cards with a postmark having the reference number visible (generally they are cards that have had the stamp removed).

Though we have far too small a sample to derive any valid conclusions, here is the intial distribution.
Years gives the number of years between original publication date and postmark date (there were no '0' years in our sample, none were postmarked the same year as they were originally published).
Frequency is a graphical representation of the number of cards falling into that timespan.
Number is the same as Frequency, but represented numerically instead of graphically.

When a larger sample is available we will graph the frequency by year, rather than five year span, for more precise results. We will also separate out the obviously reprinted cards (many have a reprint code -- N -- after the number). Our initial results suggest, not too surprisingly, that usage of particular cards (on the average) tend to decline as they get older. The surprising thing is that their shelf-life is so long, with an average of about 10 years. It will be interesting to see if this frequency distribution holds up as the sample size increases ...
